haunted 7...

Here's another horror anthology title from Charlton, Haunted. This is issue #7, from 1972. I've scanned a completed story by the great Peter A. Morisi (aka PAM), maybe my favorite of Charlton's stable of artists. Morisi was a New York cop by day, comic book artist by night. He signed all his work PAM rather than his full name to avoid getting in trouble with the NYPD for moonlighting. He retired from the police in the late 1970's and kept doing sporadic comics and illustration work, sometimes assisted by his sons. Given his background, it's no surprise Morisi had a real flair for crime comics, and his noir-ish style translated well into horror stories, as witnessed below. Someone drew on the cover of the original comic with marker, which I actually kind of like, but I also found an unmarked image of the cover online, and posted that below as well...
