Here's issue 12 of THE SPIRIT from Warren Publishing. By this time, Will Eisner seems to have less (or nothing) to do with the mag than in previous issues, his original covers and funny interviews between Spirit characters are gone. The color section is also gone. The damage to the overall quality of the mag is marginal, since they're still reprinting original stories, and those stories are still fantastic.
Also check out the cool ad for Mego's superhero figures. These were like the holy grail of action figures for me as a kid, since they weren't being made anymore (though when I was little, Mego was still making the similar Star Trek figures) and could only be found occasionally at yard or rummage sales. Something about these figures just seemed extra cool, even compared to my then-beloved GI Joes. This ad features an odd assortment of characters. There's Robin, Batgirl, Catwoman, Riddler, Joker and Penguin but no Batman, just Wonder Woman, Spider-Man (from another comics company, obviously) and non-superhero Tarzan. Still cool, though. You could buy these, and later Star Wars figures, as well as a large variety of other merchandise (books, records, models, posters, t-shirts, all kinds of cool stuff), directly from Warren...
