Here's some more comics stuff, DC's "Witching Hour" #31 from 1973. This series ran from 1969 until 1978. The cover is by Nick Cardy, he may have done the intro gag page with the three witches as well. "Red is for Dead" was written by Carl Wessler and has art by Alex Nino. Wowza, can you imagine, it was these guys job to just come up with horror stories month after month. I can barely imagine what I'd be willing to give for a gig like that. Just throwin' it out there..."A Badge of Courage" is by Bill Dennehy with art by John Calnan. The one-page "Hold Hands and Die" is by Buddy Gerndale, a regular contributor to DC's "House of Mystery" and "Ghosts." "The Scent of Death," with a great skull logo, is by Artie Saaf, who had been active in comics, illustration and advertising on and off since the 1940s (he died at year aged 85). I've also included a letters page, a small ad for Mike Kaluta's "Shadow" and the back cover ad, with is both a shill for sneakers and a chilling anti-drug advertisement. Which is kind of bizarre, no?
More to come...
